Atlas Sound, the solo project of Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox, has returned. "Octoberland" came out on Friday, 30 October 2026 on 4AD, and it is the project's first new release in around 15 years.
For anyone meeting the name for the first time: Atlas Sound is where Cox, the Atlanta songwriter best known for leading Deerhunter, goes for something more private. The records are bedroom-built and drifting, closer to hazy dream pop than to his band's guitar attack, and they sit among the more loved solo detours of the 2000s indie era. The last full Atlas Sound album arrived back in 2011.
"Octoberland" is out now on streaming services, listed as a single, and 4AD is the home for it. There is no album, EP or tour attached to the announcement yet, so for now this is a song and not a campaign. We will update this story if a record is confirmed.
