Glasvegas are back. The Glasgow band, who arrived in 2008 with a self-titled debut full of big choruses, wall-of-sound guitars and kitchen-sink storytelling, have announced their fifth album, Airy Fairy, for Friday 2 April 2027. It is their first record in six years and follows 2021's Godspeed. The lead single, "Degüello", is out now.
The record
Airy Fairy arrives on Modern Sky UK with ten songs:
- Degüello
- Airy Fairy
- Holiday & Travel Brochure
- My Hate Part
- Virtually Real
- TOOBIN
- Null
- Even Your Darkness Has A Light Of Its Own
- Lost In L.A.
- Geographic
"Degüello" is the Spanish word for "cutthroat". Frontman James Allan has said the band wrote the album partly as a reaction to the frustrations of making Godspeed: they learned the engineering side was not where their strengths lie, so this time they brought in outside help and set out to enjoy making a record together. He has also said the title is something he once heard as an insult and now wears as part of who he is, pointing to school reports that called him a dreamer.
The tour
The band follow the album with 11 dates across the UK and Ireland, in two legs. Tickets are due to go on sale at 10am on Friday 30 October. The Glasgow opener is listed on Ticketmaster; check the band's ticket links on the day for the rest.

Why it matters
Glasvegas have long been a band that younger Scottish and Irish acts name as an influence, something Allan has said he is grateful to see. He has also spoken about the state of the scene around them, arguing that musicians, especially working-class kids, need more places to play and fairer pay.
