Peter Gabriel has released "Who Are We Talking To?", the latest song from his new album o\i, on 26 October 2026. It is the October entry in his year-long habit of putting out one new track on each full moon, and Gabriel describes it as a plea for activism.
What the song is
The track is the first version of the song to arrive in the "Dark-Side" mix, which is by Mike Elizondo. Elsewhere on the album the Dark-Side mixes are by Tchad Blake, so this is the one exception. The "Bright-Side" mix follows on the next new moon.
Gabriel wrote and produced the song. Leo Nocentelli, the guitarist best known for The Meters, the New Orleans funk band, returns on guitar, and a funky pattern recorded earlier by Gabriel's long-time guitarist David Rhodes is built into the track.
"Who Are We Talking To? was conceived as something that might encourage activism," Gabriel says on his official site. "There is some sort of message, but it's got to be served on a danceable platter."
The sleeve
The cover is Bloques by the Spanish painter Juan Genovés, who was known for crowd scenes seen from above. Gabriel says of the picture: "When I saw it I felt it hit the spot."
Where it sits in o\i
The album arrives on 27 November 2026, with 13 songs. "Who Are We Talking To?" is track six, between "Won't Stand Down" and "Yes, It Will Go". Gabriel announced the record on 1 October, and it is the companion to his 2023 album i/o: together the two make a 25-track project.
Formats include a 4CD hardcover book, two double LPs (one for each mix) and digital editions, plus a Dolby Atmos mix. The Bright-Side mixes are by Mark "Spike" Stent, and the Atmos mix is by Hans-Martin Buff.
"This record has been more of a marathon than a sprint," Gabriel says in the album announcement.
