The Weeknd has premiered an unreleased song titled "Hong Kong" on the opening night of his four-show run at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong. The performance took place on Saturday, 24 October 2026, as part of his After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour.
The track is a ballad built on a sample of "Seasonal Wind" (季候風), a 1993 Cantopop song by Faye Wong. Wong is one of the defining voices of Hong Kong pop, and her melody and vocal sit inside The Weeknd's darker, slow-burning R&B sound.
A video made for the city
The title appeared on the stadium screens as the lights turned neon, and a Hong Kong-only video played behind the performance. It was shot by Evan Larsen and uses blue-toned footage of the city's streets and skyline that nods to the look of Hong Kong cinema, ending on a foggy night view of Victoria Harbour. Larsen has described The Weeknd as a big fan of late-1980s and early-1990s Hong Kong films.
Part of a pattern
This is not his first city-named premiere. Earlier this year he previewed a song reportedly called "Rio" while in Rio de Janeiro, and last month a track that appears to be titled "Tokyo" in Tokyo. Neither has had an official release that we can confirm.
What we do not know yet
There has been no announcement of a release date, a streaming link, a producer or a full list of credits for "Hong Kong". The Weeknd's last album was Hurry Up Tomorrow, released in 2025, and the tour has so far been built around his existing catalogue. Whether the three city songs become a project of their own is not something he has said.
For readers new to the reference: Faye Wong's music, and the 1994 Wong Kar-wai film Chungking Express in which she also starred, are central to how the world pictures Hong Kong in the 1990s, which is why a sample of her work lands differently in this city than it would anywhere else.
