Jordan Rakei's seventh album, A Safe Place To Be Wild, is out today, 30 October 2026, on Fontana. The New Zealand-born singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has spent a decade moving between soul, jazz, electronic production and pop, and this record is billed as his most direct and personal yet.
What it is
The album has 14 tracks: "Eden", "Promise", "Would Ya Mind", "Enemies", "Grace", "Paradise", "Games", "From The Outside", "Mirror", "Go", "I'm Out", "If I", "Pub" and "Whispers In The Wind". The label describes the themes as self-acceptance, vulnerability and creative freedom.
It follows a notable year. Rakei became the first resident artist at Abbey Road Studios and built a home studio near London, and the record grew out of that period. Producer and guest credits have not been published in the material we have seen, so we are not listing any.
The singles
"Enemies" came first, on 15 July 2026, a 1970s-tinged psych-soul groove. Rakei described it in the announcement as playful and a little arrogant, "not from bitterness, but from self-confidence", and dedicated it to "all the enemies of my past". "Promise" followed as a later single.
Rakei is not a newcomer to the spotlight. His previous album, The Loop, earned a 2025 Ivor Novello nomination for Best Album.
Formats
The album is available digitally, on CD in a digipack, and on vinyl: standard black, an exclusive indie red pressing and an opaque signed edition.
On the road in 2027
Rakei tours Europe in March and April 2027, with Olive Jones supporting on the European and UK dates. The run takes in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Berlin, Prague, Warsaw, Vienna, Zurich, Milan, Lyon, Paris, Antwerp, Amsterdam and Cologne.
The UK dates, all in April 2027:
- 16 April: Bristol Beacon, Bristol
- 17 April: Albert Hall, Manchester
- 24 April: Alexandra Palace, London, his largest headline show to date
