Gorillaz play India for the first time in January, in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Guwahati

Gorillaz have never played India. In January 2027 that changes, with three shows on The Mountain Tour: Bengaluru on 23 January, Mumbai on 27 January and Guwahati on 31 January. The promoter, District Live, bills the run as the virtual band's first live performance in the country.

For anyone new to them: Gorillaz are the cartoon band built by Damon Albarn and the artist Jamie Hewlett in 1998. On stage, Albarn leads a live band with a rotating cast of guests, and the animated characters appear on screen. The shows are known for blending hip-hop, dub, pop and electronic music, and for the long guest list that comes with each album.

The three dates

Bengaluru, Saturday 23 January 2027. Airtel Arena, the open-air ground recently renamed. Show time is 6 pm, with tickets from Rs 5,000.

Mumbai, Wednesday 27 January 2027. Jio World Garden at the Bandra Kurla Complex. Show time is 6 pm, with tickets from Rs 6,000.

Guwahati, Sunday 31 January 2027. Sarusajai Stadium. Gates open at 4 pm and the show starts at 6 pm, with tickets from Rs 2,500. This was the last date added to the run. The Assam government has backed the show, and the poster credits Assam Tourism as a supporter.

All three are on sale now on the District app. The listing also offers a reserve option, where you pay 25 per cent up front to hold a ticket. Guwahati entry is for ages 7 and above and needs a photo ID, and there is no parking at the stadium.

What to expect

The listing says Albarn will be joined by the Gorillaz live band and guest performers from the album The Mountain, with full visual production. No support acts have been named yet, and we will update this story if District Live announces any.

The tour poster carries a Hindi title and shows the four animated band members in a boat on a misty lake.

Gorillaz's catalogue is on the artist page here, if you want to get ready before January.
