Alanis Morissette's holiday album Good Weather for Immaculate Conception is out today: 14 tracks, Brandi Carlile, Steve Martin and Martin Short

Alanis Morissette has a Christmas album, and it is out today, 6 November 2026. Good Weather for Immaculate Conception is her first full holiday collection: 14 songs, about 51 minutes, released on her own Epiphany Music label.

The Canadian singer-songwriter, best known for Jagged Little Pill and "Ironic", was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June. This is a different kind of project, a mix of carols, pop standards and two newly written songs.

What is on it

The tracklist, in order:

1. "O Holy Night"
2. "To an Empath at Christmas Time"
3. "What Child Is This?"
4. "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)"
5. "Little Drummer Boy"
6. "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" (feat. Brandi Carlile and Steve Martin)
7. "Ave Maria"
8. "Christmas on the Dancefloor"
9. "River"
10. "Momma Mary" (feat. Amythyst Kiah)
11. "O Tannenbaum" (feat. Trans Voices)
12. "Last Christmas"
13. "Silent Night" (feat. Joy Oladokun)
14. "Merry Christmas" (feat. Martin Short)

Two of the songs are originals. "To an Empath at Christmas Time" and "Christmas on the Dancefloor" are the titles that stand out as new writing, set among well-known material such as Joni Mitchell's "River", John Lennon and Yoko Ono's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" and Wham!'s "Last Christmas".

The guests

• Brandi Carlile and Steve Martin feature on "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem", the song released ahead of the album. Martin is a banjo player as well as a comedian.
• Martin Short joins on the closing "Merry Christmas".
• Amythyst Kiah, the Tennessee singer-songwriter, is on "Momma Mary".
• Joy Oladokun appears on "Silent Night".
• Trans Voices, billed as the UK's first professional trans choir, sing on "O Tannenbaum".

Where she is right now

Morissette's Butterfly With a Machete residency returns to the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles from 5 November. In August she also joined Olivia Rodrigo on stage for "Ironic" at the first Daisy Chain Fields Festival.

The album is on streaming services now. We are not reviewing it here; this is a guide to what is on the record, and we will say more once the desk has lived with it.
