Gram Parsons is about to get the kind of night his catalogue has long deserved. On 11 November, the Troubadour in West Hollywood hosts A Song for Gram, a tribute concert with Emmylou Harris at the top of the bill, and it lands three days before Parsons is posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Who is playing
Harris was Parsons' duet partner on his two solo albums, so her name at the top makes sense. Alongside her are Elvis Costello, The Black Crowes, Margo Price, The Head and the Heart, Grace Potter, Jesse Welles, Madison Cunningham, Grahame Lesh, Harper Simon and Jim Lauderdale. Los Angeles psych-country band Beachwood Sparks provide the house band, which in practice means one group of players carrying a dozen different voices through the songs.
Costello has history here: he contributed to the 1999 tribute album Return of the Grievous Angel.
Why it matters
Parsons died in 1973 at 26, having made only two solo records, GP and Grievous Angel. He had also been part of The Byrds' Sweetheart of the Rodeo and a co-founder of The Flying Burrito Brothers, which is where "cosmic American music" became a phrase people use for a whole branch of country rock. He is in the Rock Hall's Class of 2026 alongside Oasis, Wu-Tang Clan, Sade, Iron Maiden, Fela Kuti and others. The induction ceremony is on 14 November at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
The Troubadour is a fitting room for it: a small, storied Los Angeles club closely tied to the city's country rock years.
The details
- Date: 11 November 2026
- Venue: The Troubadour, West Hollywood, Los Angeles
- Tickets: On sale through AXS, check the venue's listing for what remains
- Proceeds: The night benefits the Friendly House Foundation and Backline, two Los Angeles-area organisations that support people dealing with addiction and mental health challenges
- Producers: Co-produced by Polly Parsons, Gram's daughter, with Vector Management, in conjunction with the Gram Parsons Estate and the Rock Hall
If you cannot be in the room, the best preparation is the music itself: start with Grievous Angel. More on one of the night's names is on Elvis Costello's ADMC page.
