Boldy James and Real Bad Man have a new album out today. Strobelight is a 12-track record released on 28 October 2026 on the producer's own Real Bad Man Records, and the official Bandcamp page credits the whole thing as produced by Real Bad Man.
For anyone meeting the pairing for the first time: Boldy James is a Detroit rapper known for a flat, unhurried delivery and stories of street life told in precise, understated detail. Real Bad Man is a Los Angeles producer who runs the label that puts out their work together. They have made several projects as a duo, including Real Bad Boldy in 2020 and Killing Nothing in 2022, and Strobelight continues that run.
What is on it
The tracklist, as listed on the label's page:

- Must Can't Count
- Beef The Bag Up (feat. Grip)

Four guests share the record: Taj on "Gourmet", El Cousteau on "Silver Surfer", Grip on "Beef The Bag Up" and Wiki, the New York rapper, on "Flowers at the Bezzle". Everything else is Boldy alone over Real Bad Man's beats.
How to approach it
We are an Album Guide, not a review, so a note on what to expect rather than a verdict. Their earlier records leaned on sampled, dusty boom-bap beats with Boldy rapping low and close over them, and the track titles and credits here point to a record that keeps to that format: one rapper, one producer, a short list of guests.
Twelve tracks is a manageable listen, and the guest spots arrive spread across the middle of the album rather than front-loaded, so it plays as a Boldy record first.
