CHVRCHES share "Overthinker", the second single from All The King's Men
The Glasgow trio's new single turns from the pressures of "Roses" to family and depression, and it sits fourth on an 11-track album due 22 January 2027.

CHVRCHES have shared "Overthinker", the second single from their fifth album, All The King's Men. The Glasgow synthpop trio of Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty put the album out on 22 January 2027, their first full record since Screen Violence in 2021. We covered the album and tour announcement earlier this week.
A quieter, more personal turn
Where lead single "Roses" looked outward, at the pressures of the world around the band, "Overthinker" looks inward. The song is about complicated family dynamics and depression, and Mayberry sings of a person who is both "your shelter and your storm". It is a slower, more exposed song than the one that opened this era, and it suggests the album will be as much about the home as the headlines.
"Overthinker" is track four of eleven. The album was written in several three-week stints in Glasgow and recorded at Assumption Studios, a converted church in the city.
Biffy Clyro's Simon Neil joins in Glasgow
The song got its first live outing at an invite-only charity show at Assumption Studios this week, in front of roughly 100 fans. Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil joined the band for three songs, including a cover of Biffy's 2007 single "Machines". It is a neat fit: two of Scotland's biggest alternative bands in a church where one of them made its record.
What comes next
The 27-date tour across North America, the UK and Ireland follows the album, and the dates are in our earlier story. Tickets and the full routing are on the band's official channels.
