Lagos is lining up its biggest month of the year, and the first name on the Detty December Fest 2026 bill is Wizkid. The Nigerian star will headline the Grand Opening Concert on Friday, 18 December 2026, on the festival's main Detty Festival Stage.
What the festival is
"Detty December" is the shorthand for the weeks when Nigerians abroad and visitors from across the world fly into Lagos for concerts, parties, food and fashion. Detty December Fest packages that season into one 13-day programme, which this year runs from 18 to 30 December.
The organisers say the festival brings more than 300 performers across music, nightlife, fashion and food, plus family attractions and a youth space called Gen Z Republik.
What is new this year
The festival expands to two stages. The new Pulse Stage is set aside for emerging artists, so the main stage can carry the headliners while newer names get a proper slot of their own. More headliners and performers are still to be announced.
Who is opening
Wizkid is one of the defining voices of modern Afrobeats, the Lagos artist whose records helped carry the sound to global audiences. Opening the festival with him sets the tone for a run that is built around homecoming.
What we do not know yet
Ticket tiers and prices were not published in the announcement we could confirm, and the full lineup beyond Wizkid has not been revealed. We will update when the organisers publish more. Ticket details are being released through the festival's official channels.
The festival is only one part of a busy December in the city. We have also covered Brandy's House of R&B headline show in Lagos on 20 December and will keep tracking the season as dates land.
