Teenage Fanclub put out Do Not Dare to Dream on Friday, 9 October 2026, through Merge Records. It is the Scottish band's 13th studio album and follows 2023's Nothing Lasts Forever.
For a reader meeting them for the first time: the group formed in Bellshill, near Glasgow, and became one of the great jangly guitar-pop bands of the 1990s, with three songwriters (Norman Blake, Raymond McGinley and Gerard Love in the classic years) trading lead vocals and harmonies.
What is on it
The album has ten songs: "There Was You", "Tomorrow People", "Over and Over", "Be With You Tonight", "The Same Air", "I Do Not Dare To Dream", "Take Time", "Day in the Sun", "Somewhere to Land" and "Young and Wise".
The title comes from Norman Blake's song "I Do Not Dare To Dream", which sits sixth in the running order. The band's own description promises introspective lyrics and richly layered arrangements shaped by decades of playing together.
Singles and setting
"Day in the Sun" was the first single, shared with the album announcement on 23 July 2026. Its video was filmed by Donald Milne at Black Bay Studio on Great Bernera, the Outer Hebrides island where the album was recorded. "There Was You" followed on 19 August 2026.
Blake has said that you move from one thing to the next and, before you know it, thirty years have passed. McGinley has put the album's mood another way: life is short, but music is eternal.
