Shakira said goodbye to Madrid on Monday 12 October with the 13th and last show of her residency, and she did not do it alone. The night at Macondo Park, the temporary venue built for the run and named after the town in Gabriel García Márquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude, drew more than 55,000 people.
The finale was an extra date. The residency was meant to close on 11 October, but demand led Shakira and Live Nation to add one more night, announced on 6 October. It fell on Spain's national day, Día de la Hispanidad.
Who joined her
Live Nation had confirmed Maluma, Beéle and Dani Martín in advance, with Bizarrap added later. The night added another guest as well.
- Maluma sang "Agua" with her, the single the two released together in September.
- Dani Martín, the Spanish singer-songwriter, joined for "Te dejo Madrid".
- Beéle, the Colombian singer, performed their shared song "Algo tú".
- Laura Pausini appeared for "Antología", her second guest spot in the run.
- Bizarrap closed the show with "BZRP Music Sessions #53", the 2023 collaboration that became one of the biggest Spanish-language hits of its year.
Around those guests sat the hits: "Loba", "La tortura", "Inevitable", "Si te vas", "Suerte" and "Remember to Forget You". The night ended with a drone show that drew a wolf's head in the sky above the park and spelled out "Gracias, Madrid".
What it says about the run
Shakira has described the residency as a turning point for her, a before and after, in her own telling. The 13 shows ran as a self-contained "stadium" built inside the Iberdrola Music complex, rather than a stop on a standard tour, which is why the guest list read like a family reunion: Colombian, Spanish, Italian and Argentine artists, all in one city.
We covered the residency's streaming milestone earlier this month, when her Madrid show set an Amazon Music livestream record. The finale was the last chapter of a run that outgrew its original plan.
