Remi Wolf's third album, Mud, is out today, 9 October 2026, on Island Records. It runs to 11 songs and about 43 minutes, and it is the clearest sign yet that the California singer is moving away from the neon, synth-heavy pop that first got her noticed.
If you are meeting her for the first time: Wolf broke through with the funky, hyperactive pop of Juno and Big Ideas, and she has a reputation for songs that change shape mid-chorus. Her artist page has the earlier records.
What is on it
The Apple Music listing opens with "Bottle" and includes "Twiggy", "Covered In Mud", "Moon So High", "I Won't Cry", "Wine Drunk", "Guess" and "Yellow Rose". The full order is: Bottle, Champagne, Twiggy, Burn Me Blue, Jamie, Covered In Mud, Moon So High, I Won't Cry, Wine Drunk, Guess, Yellow Rose.
The only billed guest is John Mayer, on track seven, "Moon So High". Wolf has said the song was written on a trip to Joshua Tree, and that as it neared completion she realised it should be a duet and messaged Mayer to ask him to sing on it.
The sound and how it was made
Wolf has described the record as cleansing, with very little synth and the most minimalist she has been. It was written and recorded with a small circle of collaborators, including Jared Solomon, Jack DeMeo, Jamie McLaughlin and her sister-in-law Gigi Grombacher, across Big Bear in California, Electric Lady Studios in New York, and Joshua Tree, where it was finished. Solomon and DeMeo share production credits on the three singles. Full credits for the rest of the album have not been published yet.
The singles
"Twiggy" arrived on 31 July 2026, "Bottle" on 20 August and "I Won't Cry" on 25 September. Hayley Williams joined Wolf on stage for "Twiggy" at Newport Folk Festival, though she is not credited on the album.
Where to see it live
Wolf plays two release-week shows under the name An Evening of Mud: at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on 10 October, and at Webster Hall in New York on 13 October.
We are not reviewing Mud here. This is the guide to what it is and who made it, and we will have more once the desk has spent real time with it.
