Would You Stay in a Band With Your Ex?

The romantic parallel between Fleetwood Mac and The Marias, decades apart.

Would You Stay in a Band With Your Ex?

They come from two different eras, but did you know there is an interesting romantic parallel between The Marias and Fleetwood Mac?

During the making of "Rumours," Fleetwood Mac literally fell apart. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham went through a nasty, very public breakup. Just listen to songs like "Dreams" and "Go Your Own Way." They are basically emotional conversations you have with your partner.

Maria Zardoya and Josh Conway of The Marias also parted ways after eight years together. And then they stayed in the same band and made songs about each other.

It is almost as if the breakup is not the background. It defines the era of the band.

The emotional chaos on "Rumours" made Fleetwood Mac one of the biggest bands ever. The songs feel like arguments happening in real time, with an almost "who hurt who" energy. The Marias, on the other hand, processed their breakup quietly, especially on "Submarine," which many consider their best.

"Rumours" was reactive. "Submarine" took its time to reflect. Despite their relationships ending, both bands stayed together, continuing to collaborate and turning emotional tension into creative chemistry.

In simple words, if Fleetwood Mac is a breakup happening in front of you, The Marias are remembering the breakup when you are alone at night.

But the question is, would you want to stay in a band with your ex?
