Daddy Yankee has a new album, and a date to go with it. LA POSTAL arrives on 30 October 2026 on his own DY Music label, with the lead single "BOTZ (Bésame Otra Vez)" out today.
For readers meeting him for the first time: the Puerto Rican artist is one of the people who took reggaeton from the island's clubs to the whole world, and "Gasolina" is still the song most people point to when they explain how that happened. LA POSTAL is his 13th studio album and, by his own description, his first concept record.
What the album is
The idea is the postcard: a message that says something a text cannot, written because you stopped, thought of someone and wanted them to keep it. Around that image the album covers romantic love, family, self-love and his relationship with Latin music itself. It runs to 15 tracks, and the sound reaches beyond reggaeton, with Afro-Caribbean and Punjabi influences in the mix. The full tracklist and guest list have not been announced yet.
The cover art, in red and blue, shows two figures dissolving into a cloud shaped like a heart above a beach.
The single
Despite how it looks on the page, BOTZ is not a robot reference. It stands for "Bésame Otra Vez", or "Kiss Me One More Time". Daddy Yankee co-wrote it with Keityn, and the production team is Jeremy Ayala, L.e.x.v.z., DUP and Xound.
He has described it as going back to his hardcore reggaeton roots while adding newer textures and melodies, what he calls the DY sound. The video, directed by STILLZ, is built from stop-motion animation of real couples moving towards a kiss, cut with footage of him performing.
Where it fits
A concept album with an emotional centre is a change of shape for an artist best known for party records, and that makes 30 October worth watching.
We will update this story when the tracklist lands. For more reggaeton coverage, see Daddy Yankee's artist page.
