Latin music's biggest night of the autumn is three weeks away, and the field is already telling a story: regional Mexican is the centre of gravity. The 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards will be held on 22 October at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, airing live on Telemundo and Peacock at 8 p.m. ET. For viewers in India that is 5:30 a.m. IST on 23 October.
Who leads the field
The finalists were announced on 9 September, counted by the number of mentions each artist and act received across categories, and the order tells you a lot.
- Peso Pluma: 17
- Tito Double P: 15
- Fuerza Regida: 12
- Karol G: 9
- Prince Royce: 8
- Bad Bunny: 7
Peso Pluma and Tito Double P are the big storyline because so much of their count comes from the same project. DINASTÍA, their joint album, is up for Top Latin Album of the Year, and four songs from it, "daño", "dopamina", "chiclona" and "7-3", account for nine of Peso Pluma's mentions across the Global 200, Hot Latin, Streaming and Regional Mexican song categories. If you are new to the scene: Peso Pluma is the Mexican singer who took corridos tumbados from Mexican streaming playlists to global charts, and Tito Double P is his fellow Mexican star and frequent collaborator.
The album category is not a walkover. Rosalía's LUX is in the same race, which makes it a rare face-off between a regional Mexican juggernaut and a Barcelona artist who has spent her career bending flamenco, pop and the avant-garde. Rosalía has six mentions this year.
Rosalía's Hall of Fame
The ceremony will also carry a special honour. On 1 October, Billboard and Telemundo announced that Rosalía will receive the Billboard Hall of Fame Award on the night, and that she will attend to accept it. The award is for careers that have gone beyond commercial success into wider cultural influence across genres, languages and markets. Her 2018 album El Mal Querer, which rebuilt flamenco for a pop audience, is the record usually cited as the turning point.
Other honorary awards on the night are the Vanguard Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Spirit of Hope Award. The recipients of those had not been named in the finalist announcement.
What is new this year
- Fan Favorite Artist debuts as a category. The five artists with the most mentions (Peso Pluma, Tito Double P, Fuerza Regida, Karol G and Prince Royce) are the contenders, and the winner is decided by public vote at Telemundo.com/VOTA until the start of the show.
- There are 47 categories across Latin genres.
- The eligibility window ran from 13 September 2025 to 5 September 2026.
- Latin Music Week runs in Miami from 19 to 22 October.
Why it matters beyond Miami
Bad Bunny is the best known name here for many listeners in India, and he is in the race with seven mentions. His page is on ADMC at /artist/bad-bunny. But the numbers this year say the scene's momentum sits with Mexican regional acts and with artists crossing between languages, which is exactly the kind of crossover Indian listeners have been warming to on streaming.
