Art Garfunkel postpones his four UK shows in October, with new dates still to come

Art Garfunkel's October run of UK concerts has been postponed. The singer, one half of Simon & Garfunkel and the voice on "Bridge Over Troubled Water", was due to play four theatre and hall dates this month, and none of them will go ahead as planned.

The dates affected

The postponed shows are:

• 13 October: Watford Colosseum
• 15 October: Manchester Opera House
• 17 October: The Civic Hall, Wolverhampton
• 19 October: Royal Albert Hall, London

The Watford Colosseum notice says the October shows have been postponed "due to unforeseen circumstances". It adds that organisers are working on rescheduled dates and will announce them once they are confirmed.

What ticket holders should do

Ticket holders are asked to keep their tickets and wait for further information about the new dates. The venue notice does not set out refund terms, so anyone who cannot make a later date should check with the venue or the box office they bought from.

The reason

The official wording gives no detail beyond "unforeseen circumstances". It has also been reported that Garfunkel has been diagnosed with a respiratory infection and advised to rest, but that has not been spelled out in the venue's own notice, so we are treating it as not yet officially confirmed.

The Royal Albert Hall night on 19 October was the biggest of the four. We will update this story when the new dates are published.
