Victony's "SLICK" has a remix, and it is built for the American market. The single "SLICK (Remix)" is out now, released on 16 October 2026, with Summer Walker and Don Toliver joining the Nigerian singer. It is listed as a single on Apple Music.
Who is Victony
Victony is a singer and songwriter from Nigeria who blends Afrobeats with melodic rap and R&B, and "SLICK" is among the biggest songs of his career. It came out in July 2026 and appears on his second studio album, STARLIFE. At home it spent three straight weeks at number one on Nigeria's Official Top 100, which we understand to be his first solo chart-topper there. In the US it has reached number two on the Afrobeats Songs chart.
Why these two guests
Neither guest is a stranger to this world. Summer Walker is the Atlanta R&B singer behind Over It and Still Over It, and her voice brings a different audience to the song: listeners who love slow, confessional R&B and may not otherwise reach for Afrobeats. Her ADMC page is here.
Don Toliver, the Houston rapper and singer, is a repeat collaborator. He was on the 2023 remix of "Soweto", the Victony and Tempoe song that Rema also appeared on. Bringing him back for "SLICK" looks like a deliberate return to a formula that worked once already.
Walker had also been connected to the song before the remix existed. She shared her own take on "SLICK" on social media earlier this month, which made the official collaboration feel less like a surprise and more like a payoff.
Why it matters
Afrobeats has spent the last few years learning how to cross into the American mainstream, and the American remix has become one of its favourite tools. A guest verse from a US star can move a song from the diaspora and genre listeners to the general charts. Victony already has the Afrobeats chart position and a home-country number one; the remix is the push for the next step.
Nothing about the new version has been officially detailed beyond the release itself: no video, no tracklist beyond the single. We will update this story if Victony or his team share more.
We covered Summer Walker earlier this week in the story of her lawsuit against LVRN.
