The Cosign: Idgitaf is turning Indonesian heartbreak into country-leaning pop
The Jakarta singer-songwriter has gone from a 2021 single to a second album and a fresh release this month. Here is why we are betting on her.

If you only follow K-pop and J-pop, Southeast Asia's biggest home-grown pop stories can slip past you. Idgitaf is one worth catching up on. The Indonesian singer-songwriter writes in Bahasa Indonesia, leans on an easy country-pop shimmer, and has spent five years building a catalogue that keeps getting more confident. This week's Cosign is our bet that she is the one to watch in Indonesian pop.
A five-year run, in release order
Her catalogue is easy to trace. The single "Takut" arrived on 1 October 2021, followed by the debut EP Semoga Sembuh in 2022 and the single "Satu-Satu" on 10 June 2022. Her first full-length, Mengudara, came out on 28 July 2023 with nine songs.
In September 2024 she contributed "Berakhir di Aku" to the soundtrack of the Indonesian film Home Sweet Loan, which gave her songwriting a wider audience beyond streaming.
The song that changed the scale
"Sedia Aku Sebelum Hujan" was released on 8 October 2025 and became her signature song. It leans into a country-pop sound that is unusual in Indonesian mainstream pop, and it set up everything that followed: a new single, "Rutinitas", on 5 January 2026, and then the second album.
Berusaha di Bawah Hujan
Berusaha di Bawah Hujan ("Trying in the Rain") came out on 15 May 2026. It runs to 12 songs and about 43 minutes, and the sound recording is credited to her own imprint, idgitaf musik, which tells you how much of the project she controls. She has described the record as more personal than her earlier work, built around falling in love, the difficulties of a relationship and growing up through it.
The title also plays on the rain imagery that runs through her best-known songs, from "Sedia Aku Sebelum Hujan" onward. It is a consistent world, and consistency is rare in a streaming era that rewards one-off hits.
Why a cosign, and why now
Three things make Idgitaf a good bet.
- A distinct sound. Country-leaning pop sung in Indonesian is not crowded territory.
- Momentum. She has kept releasing: an album in May, and a new single, "Mendung", on 9 October 2026.
- Ownership. Her own imprint sits on the album credit, a sign she is building for the long run.
For readers outside Indonesia, the easiest way in is to start with "Sedia Aku Sebelum Hujan", move to Berusaha di Bawah Hujan, and finish with "Mendung". You do not need to understand the lyrics to hear why people connect with her. We will keep following her next moves, and if tour dates are announced we will list them in the ADMC gig guide.
