The tour bus carrying the Los Angeles band MUNA caught fire on the morning of Monday 19 October 2026, on the southbound 5 Freeway in Burbank, California. Everyone aboard got off safely and no injuries have been reported.
The bus was returning from the previous night's show at Frost Amphitheater in Stanford, part of the band's Gets So Hot Tour. Local TV helicopters filmed the burned vehicle being hosed down at the roadside while the band and their friends waited nearby.
What MUNA said
The band posted about it on Instagram, writing that "many personal items were lost but we're all safe, thank goodness." The cause of the fire has not been made public, and the band has not said how much gear or merchandise was on board.
What happens next
The tour's next listed dates are Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, on Wednesday 21 October, and the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Thursday 22 October, where Caroline Polachek is listed as support. MUNA have not said whether the fire changes either show, so check the venue and ticketing pages for any update before you travel.
MUNA are the trio of Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin and Naomi McPherson, a queer pop band from Los Angeles whose songs have made them a favourite on the indie and pop touring circuit. Bus fires are a known hazard of life on the road, and this one ended about as well as it could have, with the people unhurt and the shows still ahead.
