Metallica's Sphere residency now runs to 24 shows, through 13 March 2027

Metallica opened their Las Vegas residency, Life Burns Faster, on 1 October 2026, and it now stretches to 24 shows, finishing on 13 March 2027.

The band first put up a short run of October dates at Sphere, the 17,600-capacity, wraparound-screen venue on the Strip, then kept adding nights as demand outran the first batches. The band has said fans found the ticket-buying process frustrating and not always smooth, and has said it hopes to offer more dates later.

The format

The residency borrows the "No Repeat Weekend" idea from the band's M72 World Tour: each weekend has two shows, on a Thursday and a Saturday, and the two nights use different setlists. Fans who see both hear two different shows.

Opening night ran to 16 songs, from "Battery" and "Master of Puppets" to the newer "Lux Æterna", with an instrumental spot for Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo. Lars Ulrich has said the idea took hold when he watched U2 open Sphere in 2023, and that he wanted the band to reinvent how they meet fans live.

Why it matters

A residency lets a stadium-sized metal band stay in one room for months, with a production built around the building. Sphere joins a short list of acts to play the venue, including U2, Dead & Company, Phish, the Eagles and No Doubt.

Metallica are one of the biggest names in heavy metal, and their artist page has everything we have written about them. Dates are being added to the ADMC gig guide as well.
