The 27th Latin Grammy Awards are on 12 November 2026 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and the nominations, announced by the Latin Recording Academy on 16 September, already tell a clear story: this is Edgar Barrera's year again.
Who leads
Barrera, the Mexican-American songwriter and producer behind much of the current regional Mexican and Latin pop sound, has 10 nominations, the same total as last year. They include Record, Album and Song of the Year, and much of the work is with Karol G and Carín León.
Four acts follow with seven each: Karol G, Rosalía, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso and Jorge Drexler. Argentine rising star Milo J has five, including Album, Song and Record of the Year.
Album of the Year
Among the nominated albums are Anitta's EQUILIBRIVM, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso's Free Spirits, Jorge Drexler's Taracá, Silvana Estrada's Vendrán suaves lluvias, Karol G's Tropicoqueta, Mon Laferte's Femme Fatale, Milo J's La Vida Era Más Corta and Carín León's Muda. The full list is on the Latin Grammy site.
Rosalía's seven nominations land in the same week she performed on Saturday Night Live, which we covered in our Rosalía story.
Daddy Yankee gets his night
The Academy named Daddy Yankee its 2026 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year, honouring nearly three decades of work in reggaeton and his humanitarian efforts. The tribute gala is on 11 November 2026 in Las Vegas, during Latin Grammy Week, with a concert of his songs played by friends and artists from around the world.
The timing suits him. He announced his first concept album, LA POSTAL, for 30 October, with "BOTZ" as the lead single, and you can follow his coverage on his artist page. He will reach Las Vegas less than two weeks after a new record.
What to watch
With Barrera in three of the biggest categories, expect the night's headline to be about the people behind the songs as much as the stars singing them. Whether Karol G, Rosalía or the Argentine duo CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso turns seven nominations into the big wins is the question we will be following until 12 November.
