John Legend's Muse lands 23 October: 16 tracks, all produced by Pharrell, with Clipse on "Bodies On The Floor"
Legend's 11th album is a first full collaboration with Pharrell Williams, built from gospel, doo-wop, classic soul, Afrobeat and hip-hop. Here is what we know before it arrives.

John Legend releases Muse on Friday 23 October 2026 through Republic Records. It is his 11th studio album, and the first time he and Pharrell Williams have made a full project together: Pharrell produced the whole record and co-wrote it, after more than two decades of friendship.
The album was announced on 8 September 2026 alongside the lead single "Daylight". Pre-orders are open on Legend's release page.
How it came together
The seed was Legend's guest vocal on "The Birds Don't Sing", from Clipse's comeback album Let God Sort 'Em Out, which Pharrell produced. That performance pushed Pharrell to build an album around Legend's voice, and Muse is the result.
Legend has described the aim as shaking up the formula. His best-known songs are piano ballads, and this record steps away from that: the stated palette is gospel, standards, doo-wop, classic soul, Afrobeat and hip-hop, with a warm, upbeat feel that leans on the Nina Simone, Nat King Cole and Marvin Gaye tradition.

What we can and cannot say yet
We have not heard the album, so this is a guide, not a review. "Daylight" is the only song out so far. What the tracklist does tell us is that Legend is spreading out: interludes that frame the songs as a sequence, a rap feature from one of hip-hop's most closely watched duos, and a producer with a long record of pulling singers into new shapes.
For readers new to the pairing: Legend is the Ohio-born, Grammy-winning singer behind "All of Me", and Pharrell is the producer and Neptunes co-founder behind a long run of hits across pop, R&B and hip-hop. Their link-up is one of the more intriguing R&B releases of the autumn.
Muse arrives the same day as Anderson .Paak and Cordae's Heavy Is The Crown, so 23 October is a busy one for fans of soul-leaning records.
The album page is on Apple Music.
