FKA twigs has been named curator of Meltdown 2027, the Southbank Centre's annual festival on the South Bank in London. It runs from 10 to 20 June 2027, and she will headline one day herself.
Meltdown hands the programme to a single artist each year, and the list of past curators is a who's who of the unusual: David Bowie, Patti Smith, Yoko Ono, Grace Jones, Nile Rodgers, Chaka Khan and, most recently, Little Simz in 2025 and Harry Styles in 2026. Twigs is the 32nd.
Why she fits
The Gloucestershire-raised artist, born Tahliah Barnett, has built a catalogue that sits across art pop, electronic music, R&B and performance, from her 2014 debut LP1 to the club-leaning Eusexua. She is known for staging that borrows from dance and film as much as from the gig circuit, which suggests a festival programme that will not stay inside one genre.
Curators usually mix their own influences with younger acts and the odd surprise guest, so expect the line-up to follow that pattern. Ticket details and the full programme have not been announced, and the Southbank Centre has said more will follow, with the line-up expected in early 2027.
Beyond the Southbank
Meltdown is also going on the road. A set of "Hometown Meltdown" events at grassroots venues across the UK, backed by the Music Venue Trust, is planned between December 2026 and March 2027, with local artists joining acts from elsewhere in the country. Line-ups have not been released yet.
We will update this when the programme and on-sale dates are confirmed. For more on the artist, see FKA twigs on ADMC.
