Dead Man's Bones are coming back. The duo of actor Ryan Gosling and musician Zach Shields announced in a video on the band's social channels that new music arrives on 27 October 2026, days before Halloween. It is their first material in 17 years.
The announcement gives almost nothing away. The teaser does not say whether it is an album, an EP or a single, and no title has been shared. Gosling's partner Eva Mendes reposted it with the line "He came through on his promise to me".
Who they are
Gosling and Shields formed the band in 2009, between the films Lars and the Real Girl and Blue Valentine. Their self-titled debut, released through ANTI- on 2 October 2009, was a homemade gothic pop record built around the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir, with graveyard themes and piano that sounds like a haunted house. They played a short run of Halloween-timed shows that year and then went quiet.
Gosling has been asked about a reunion for years and has kept the door open, which makes this the first time the band itself has put a date on it. The label behind the teaser has not been confirmed in the video, so we will say who is releasing it when it is official.
For more on the actor, see Ryan Gosling on ADMC. We will update when the music lands on Tuesday.
