The Cribs are going home. The Wakefield trio will headline Tileyard North on Friday 20 August 2027, playing their third album, Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever, from start to finish to mark its 20th anniversary.
It is the band's first hometown show in more than ten years, and the venue is a fitting one. Tileyard North is a former mill complex on Wakefield's waterfront, and the site is where Ryan, Gary and Ross Jarman rehearsed in the early 2000s, a short walk from the house they grew up in.
The bill
Support comes from fellow Yorkshire art-rockers ¡Forward, Russia!, who will play their 2007 debut, Give Me A Wall, in full. The two bands came up in the same mid-2000s wave of northern guitar music, so the double bill doubles as a reunion of sorts for that scene.
The Cribs are the first act confirmed for the 2027 edition of Live At Tileyard North, the summer series from promoter Futuresound Events. The promoter says it chose the band to launch the series' second year.
The album
Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever came out in 2007 and was produced by Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand. It is the record that carried "Moving Pictures", "I'm a Realist" and "Our Bovine Public", and it remains the one most fans reach for when they think of the band's sharpest, noisiest pop.
Tickets
A pre-sale opens on Wednesday 21 October at 10am BST, with general sale on Friday 23 October at 10am BST through the See Tickets listing. A price has not been published yet, and we will update this story when it is.
The band's latest album is Selling a Vibe, out this year, so expect the 2027 date to be a night for the old records rather than the new ones.
