The music from the BBC's ocean series is heading out of the living room and into the arena. Blue Planet III Live in Concert will play three UK dates in May 2027, with a London show still to be announced.
The dates
- 21 May 2027: AO Arena, Manchester
- 22 May 2027: bp pulse LIVE, Birmingham
- 23 May 2027: OVO Hydro, Glasgow
Presale opens on Wednesday 14 October at 10am, and general sale follows on Friday 16 October at 11am. Tickets start from £40 including VAT, before booking fees and venue levies. London will be added soon, and fans can register on a waitlist in the meantime. The tour is presented by FKP Scorpio Entertainment UK under licence from BBC Studios.
What the show is
The concert pairs footage from the series on a 200 sq metre Ultra HD LED screen with the score played live by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. The series' executive producer, Elizabeth White, hosts the evening.
The music is by Hans Zimmer with Thom Lukas and Laurentia Editha of Bleeding Fingers Music, Zimmer's composing company. If you are new to the idea: Zimmer is the film composer behind the scores to Inception, Interstellar and Dune, and the Blue Planet franchise has long been a showcase for big, patient orchestral writing set against the deep sea.
Why it fits the moment
Live-to-picture concerts have become a reliable arena business in the UK and Europe, because they sell a familiar score to people who might never buy a ticket for a gig. The model is simple: the film or series plays, the orchestra performs it in real time, and the room gets the scale that a television speaker cannot offer.
We will update this story when the London date and venue are confirmed.
