Blondie are back. The New York band have announced High Noon, their twelfth studio album and their first set of new songs in nine years, due on 26 February 2027 through BMG. The first single, "Spectral Eyes", is out now.
What we know about the record
The last Blondie album was Pollinator in 2017, and the producer on that one, John Congleton, is back for this. The band began recording in New York in 2022, and the official announcement describes a sound that keeps the punk-rock core and folds in dance and Latin rhythms.
It is also the last album to feature drummer and co-founder Clem Burke, who died in 2025. His final recordings are on the record, which gives the title and the wait a different weight.
"Spectral Eyes" opens the album, and it is a song with a history: Johnny Marr wrote it and plays guitar on it. The former Smiths guitarist has said he first wrote it with Blondie in mind, years before it found its way back to them.
The guests
Marr is not the only name on the sleeve. Bassist Glen Matlock, the Sex Pistols co-founder who now plays with the band, wrote "Sleepwalking". Zach Condon of Beirut and Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius also appear, and artist and director Rob Roth, who has worked with Blondie since 1999's No Exit, made the visuals.
One song is a revisit: "Little Metal Drummer" is a new take on a track keyboardist Jimmy Destri first recorded for his solo album Heart On A Wall.
