Joseph Satriani (born July 15, 1956) is an American rock guitarist, composer, record producer, and songwriter. He began his career as a guitar instructor, teaching students who later achieved prominence, including Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett, and Alex Skolnick. From the mid-1980s onward, he established a successful solo career as an instrumental rock artist. He has received multiple Grammy Award nominations and has sold over ten million albums worldwide.
